Discussion date: May 26, 2024
The point of the discussion is to know and understand what to prioritize in different situations as a Muslim. The 8 examples from the life of Rasul (SAW) were used to give us insights so we learn how to deal with similar issues in life.
Here are the key points discussed:
- When an individual maslahah wants to affect that of the community, the ruler is permitted to intervene to ensure the greater good of the community is served.
- The prophet was sent to the whole world, but he started from Makkah
- The Rasul did not fight back when they were tortured in the early days of the message, if they had done that then, Islam might have not seen the light of the day.
- When instruction came to bring Islam to public space, the Makkans increased their persecution.....but Muslims at that time were not allowed to fight back
- Salatul Jum'ah was made obligatory from Makkah but because Islam couldn't be done in the open, it couldn't be observed
- When the Rasul got to Madiinah, he was obliged to create a strong bond among its inhabitants.
- The Rasul didn't allow the killing of the hypocrites among the believers; so that people wouldn't say โRasul (SAW) is killing his companions.โ
- In Sulhul Hudaybiyyah, when the Prophet was to sign a treaty; In the treaty, Rasulullah was written but the disbelievers did not agree and asked that the name be changed to the prophet's name, and he agreed.
From all these, we understand that priorities are really important when calling to the path of Islam. You canโt change the world/people in a day. It is a gradual process, and it has to be done with wisdom, just like the prophet and our predecessors did
